Hasan Aliyev: "I’m not going to mention our wrestler’s name, so it will affect them psychologically" - INTERVIEW

Interview of Hasan Aliyev, coach of Azerbaijan's Greco-Roman wrestling national team, to Idman.biz website

- Under your leadership, the national team will go to the World Military Championship, which will start in Baku on November 27. How is the preparation going?

- It is the last stage of the training camp. We had our trial meetings. We have minor injuries. It is also normal. In general, everything is fine.

- What did you think about when choosing the wrestlers who performed in the competition?

- The choice was made based on the results and prospects shown in previous competitions. Most of our athletes are successful. In some weights, we will give chance to number 2 instead of injured ones. Since the competition is held in our country, we have tried to be as careful as possible in the selection of the team.

- What are your expectations regarding the World Championship? Who do you hope will win a medal?

- I think our team is strong. For this reason, I hope that the result will be high. I don't want to mention the names of the athletes. Because many of our young wrestlers will participate in the World Cup. I’m not going to mention our wrestler’s name, so it might affect them psychologically. So everything will become clear during the competition.

- Who do you think are the main competitors for our team?
- Each of our main competitors is coming to Baku. We had constant competition with Iranian, Russian and Turkish wrestlers. They will also participate in this tournament.

- Can we consider it an advantage for our athletes that the World Cup will be held within our native walls?

- Yes. Holding the World Championship in our country will motivate our athletes. I think that will be easier for them to perform at home. Most importantly, they will not face the prejudice of the judges.
