The qualification bouts at the U17 Beach Wrestling World Championships in Baku have been held in the boys' and girls' competitions.
As reported by İdman.Biz, citing the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation, Azerbaijani wrestlers competed across several weight categories.
In the boys' 60 kg category, Eljan Hasanov defeated Ukraine's Kyrylo Nahirnyi in both qualification bouts. The Azerbaijani won the first encounter 3-1 before recording a 3-0 victory in the second.
At 80 kg, Nihad Suleymanli also claimed two wins over Kazakhstan's Daniyar Beisenkul. He prevailed 3-1 in the first bout and 3-0 in the second.
In the 90 kg category, Elgun Karimli faced fellow Azerbaijani Elvin Hajiguluzade and won both qualification bouts by identical 3-1 scores.
In the girls' 45 kg competition, Gulnar Aghadadashova and Nargiz Adilova faced each other three times. Adilova won the opening bout 3-1. The second ended 2-2, while Aghadadashova prevailed 3-2 in their third meeting.
At 55 kg, Gunel Karimli competed in three qualification bouts against Senegal's Elisabeth Diattaya. The Azerbaijani lost the first 0-4, responded with a 4-2 victory in the second and was beaten 0-5 in the third.
The U17 Beach Wrestling World Championships are being held in Baku.
