Azerbaijan's national junior judo team has returned home after winning five medals at the European Junior Championships in Podgorica, Montenegro.
İdman.Biz reports, citing the Azerbaijan Judo Federation, that the athletes were welcomed at Heydar Aliyev International Airport by representatives of the sports community, federation officials, members of the media and their families.
Aykhan Mirzazade (60 kg), Mahammad Musayev (66 kg) and Suleyman Shukurov (90 kg) won all their bouts to become European junior champions.
Davud Namazli (100 kg) and Ramazan Ahmadov (+100 kg) added bronze medals to Azerbaijan's tally.
The national team completed the competition with three gold and two bronze medals, finishing second in the overall standings among 44 countries and first in the men's competition.
The result marks another successful international appearance for Azerbaijan's young judokas and highlights the depth of the country's emerging talent.
