Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Vitinha has shared his expectations ahead of the UEFA Champions League league-phase clash against Barcelona, highlighting the Catalan club's impressive midfield and predicting an exciting tactical battle.
As reported by İdman.Biz, the Portuguese international spoke at a pre-match press conference, emphasizing that although the encounter is important, the outcome will not define either team's season.
"It's only October. We know very well how much things can change during a season. What happens in October can look completely different in March," Vitinha said.
"Right now, though, this is one of the best matches you can play. Two of Europe's strongest teams are facing each other. I think it will be a very interesting game. Both the team and I are really looking forward to it."
The PSG midfielder stressed that the match would provide an important opportunity to assess the French champions' current level.
"It's a big game. Even though it's not decisive, it's extremely motivating. We want to see where we stand at this stage of the season," he explained.
Vitinha also praised Barcelona's midfield, acknowledging the technical quality of their players and the challenge of controlling possession against the Spanish giants.
"Barcelona have an incredible midfield. I really like the way they play. It will be very interesting to see which team manages to control the game because both sides want to press their opponents and dominate possession. That will create spaces throughout the match," he added.
Both PSG and Barcelona are known for their possession-oriented attacking football, making the midfield battle one of the key factors that could determine the outcome of the encounter.
The Champions League match between PSG and Barcelona will take place in Paris today, October 20, with kick-off scheduled for 23:00 Baku time.
