Three-time world, four-time European champion, silver and bronze medalist of the Olympic Games, leader of the Azerbaijani freestyle wrestling team, Haji Aliyev's interview to Idman.biz website
- On November 27, the world championship among military men will start in Baku. How are preparations for the FIFA World Cup going?
- We have started the training camp for the competition for a week. We have already completed the physical exercises. Preparation is going very well. We have already settled in the "Sarhadchi" Sports Center, where the world championship will be held.
- Azerbaijan, especially our wrestlers, has always performed successfully in the military world championship. What are the expectations this time?
- I think that the military world championship is on the same level as other competitions. Because it is very difficult. The number of participating countries is large. The competition will be held in our country, in front of local fans. I am sure that this moment will push us to be successful.
- Can the unsuccessful performance in the World Championship affect the fight in this competition?
- The World Championship is over. In sports, there are wins and losses. Every time we lose, we learn from it. You have to look forward.
- The Olympic year is coming, and the Paris-2024 Summer Olympic Games are just around the corner. Do you feel ready for the big race of first licensure and then 4 years?
- Next year, on April 4-7, there will be a licensed European Qualifying Tournament in Baku. The biggest goal is to qualify for Paris-2024 there. If I don't make it there, I will perform in the last license competition to be organized in Istanbul. I will do my best to win the right to participate in the Olympic Games.
- Before the World Championship, as well as in your last interviews, you said that your main goal is the Olympic championship. Does the goal remain the same?
- Undoubtedly, becoming an Olympic champion is the dream of every athlete. Everyone knows that my goal is to become an Olympic champion and finish my career well.
