The European Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Baku kicks off. reports that on the first day of the competition, Greco-Roman wrestlers started fighting.

4 "classics" of the Azerbaijan national team appeared on the mat. Only one of them - Beka Kandelaki (130 kg) reached the semi-finals with two victories. He will play a decisive match to advance to the finals that qualify for the Paris-2024 Summer Olympics. Among our other wrestlers, Islam Abbasov (87 kg) 1/8, Nihat Mammadli (60 kg) and Murad Ahmadiyev (97 kg) stopped fighting in the 1/4 finals.

Islam Abbasov's first opponent was Turpal Bisultanov (Denmark). He lost 3:5 and stopped fighting in the tournament.

Murad Ahmadiyev challenged Aleksandar Stjepanetic (Sweden). Ahmadiyev won with a score of 10:0 and advanced to the quarter-finals. He will face German Lucas Alexandros Lazogianis. Our wrestler, which lost with the score of 5:7, lost the chance to win the ticket to Paris-2024 in Baku

130 kg
Beka Kandelaki faced Oskar Marvik (Norway) in the first round. Our wrestler won with a score of 9:1. He will face Georgy Lyubomirov Ivanov (Bulgaria) in the 1/4 finals. Beka defeated its opponent with a score of 9:0. Azerbaijani wrestler, who reached the semi-finals, will face Sergey Semyonov (AIN) for the qualification to Paris-2024.

It should be noted that our Greco-Roman wrestling team has already won the license in two other weights. Hasrat Jafarov (67 kg) and Sanan Suleymanov (77 kg) received the right to participate in Paris-2024.
