A number of key roads in Baku will be open to traffic during designated hours as part of special arrangements for the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
As reported by İdman.Biz, the Baku City Circuit Operations Company has announced a traffic management plan aimed at ensuring greater convenience for residents and drivers during the race period.
A new transit corridor will also be introduced from the intersection of Uzeyir Hajibeyli and Pushkin streets towards Bulbul Avenue.
At the same time, traffic restrictions will be imposed in several areas. The first restriction will come into force at 21:00 on September 19 on the section of Pushkin Street at its intersections with Uzeyir Hajibeyli Street and Neftchilar Avenue. It will remain in place until the end of the event.
Under the Traffic Management Plan, streets forming part of the Baku City Circuit and areas within the track perimeter will be closed to traffic from 01:00 on September 20 until 08:00 on September 28. Entry to and exit from restricted zones will only be permitted with a Residence Access Permit.
Based on the experience of the past three years, several key routes will nevertheless be temporarily opened during specific hours.
On September 21 and 22, designated entry and exit points will be open from 07:00 to 09:00 and from 18:00 to 20:00. On September 23, they will operate from 07:00 to 09:00 and from 20:00 to 22:00.
The designated entry routes are:
• From Salyan Highway towards Neftchilar Avenue and Azneft Square;
• From M. Lermontov Street towards UN 50th Anniversary Street and Istiglaliyyat Street;
• From S. Vurgun Street towards Uzeyir Hajibeyli Street and Bulbul Avenue;
• From Bulbul Avenue towards Khagani Street and Neftchilar Avenue;
• From the intersection of Nizami and Pushkin streets towards Khagani Street;
• From the intersection of Uzeyir Hajibeyli and Pushkin streets towards Bulbul Avenue.
The designated exit routes are:
• From Neftchilar Avenue towards Baku Sea Port, Port Baku Mall and Crescent Mall;
• From Istiglaliyyat Street towards Azerbaijan Avenue;
• From Neftchilar Avenue towards Azneft Square, Deniz Mall and Salyan Highway.
During these periods, vehicles other than public transport and heavy trucks will be able to use the designated transit corridors.
Stopping, parking, and picking up or dropping off passengers will not be permitted along the transit corridors, except in emergencies. The speed limit on these routes will be 50 km/h.
The 2026 Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix will take place in Baku from September 24 to 26.
