Verstappen highlights bumpy Austin track after US Grand Prix practice

Red Bull driver Max Verstappen has reflected on Friday's free practice sessions ahead of the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix, admitting that the uneven surface of the Circuit of the Americas has made car setup particularly challenging.

As reported by İdman.Biz, citing RacingNews365, the Dutch driver explained that the team is still working to find the optimal balance and rhythm around the Austin circuit.

"The large number of bumps and uneven sections makes things much more complicated. We tried to find the right rhythm and the correct balance of the car. Between the first and second practice sessions, we focused specifically on these aspects. There is still plenty of work to do, but it has been a decent start to the weekend," Verstappen said.

The four-time world champion finished third in the second free practice session, setting a time 0.189 seconds slower than Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, who topped the standings with a lap of 1:35.291.

Mercedes driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli secured second place, finishing just 0.042 seconds behind Leclerc.

The third free practice session is scheduled for today, October 24, at 21:30 Baku time.

The United States Grand Prix is the 18th round of the 2026 Formula 1 World Championship.
