Former Qarabağ striker Dino Ndlovu has suffered a major financial setback after losing approximately six million South African rand (around 617,000 AZN) in an unsuccessful international business deal.
As reported by İdman.Biz, citing South African media, the 36-year-old former forward revealed that he had fallen victim to a failed business arrangement involving individuals with connections to Dubai.
According to Ndlovu, the people involved in the deal disappeared after receiving his money, leaving him unable to recover his investment.
His initial losses exceeded five million rand. Determined to retrieve the funds, the former footballer hired a private investigator, spending an additional one million rand in the process.
Following the experience, Ndlovu urged aspiring entrepreneurs to conduct thorough background checks on potential business partners and pay particular attention to the legal aspects of financial agreements.
Despite the setback, the former South African international has continued pursuing business opportunities. He has recently started investing in chrome mining, having previously been involved in nightclub, entertainment venue and guesthouse businesses.
Ndlovu also revealed ambitions to become a football club owner and a player agent in the future.
The former striker remains a memorable figure in Qarabağ's history, having represented the Azerbaijani champions between 2016 and 2018.
He played a crucial role in the club's historic qualification for the UEFA Champions League group stage in 2017, scoring an important away goal against Danish side Copenhagen in the decisive qualifying round.
That achievement saw Qarabağ become the first Azerbaijani club to reach the group stage of Europe's premier club competition.
During his time with the Aghdam-based team, Ndlovu made 54 appearances, scoring 19 goals and providing seven assists.
The former South Africa international also played club football in Israel, Cyprus, China and Turkey during his professional career.
