"I'm in pain right now."
Eldaniz Azizli (55 kg), the captain of the Azerbaijani national team in Greco-Roman wrestling, told Idman.biz.
He commented on Romania's exclusion from the European Championship to be held in Bucharest. The 3-times world and 2-times European champion said that the injury to his sternum before the continental championship last year is still a problem for him: "I quit the training camp in Poreč halfway through and went home early because of my growing pain. I feel like I have a chronic injury from these pains now. The doctors are unable to predict when I will be able to fully participate in the workouts because of this. It requires time. It has no known treatment. I have to wait for my discomfort to subside."
According to Azizli, his health has disrupted all future plans: "Currently, my condition does not allow me to say anything about the future. After recovery, I will decide which competition I can participate in with the advice of doctors."
It should be noted that the European Championship will be held in Bucharest, the capital of Romania, on February 12-18.
