Real Madrid's official television channel has acknowledged Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane's victory in the 2026 Ballon d'Or voting, despite the England international finishing ahead of the Spanish club's star forward Kylian Mbappe.
As reported by İdman.Biz, Real Madrid TV broadcast the award ceremony live, following the announcement of the winner by Brazilian football legend Ronaldo.
Kane finished first in the voting, ahead of Mbappe and Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal.
"Real Madrid fans were naturally hoping for Kylian Mbappe to win. Well, the predictions turned out to be correct. So, congratulations to the Bayern Munich player! Congratulations to the England international!" the presenter said.
The broadcaster also expressed confidence that Mbappe would have further opportunities to win the prestigious individual award.
"As for Kylian Mbappe, he will have another chance. Congratulations to Harry Kane. Kylian Mbappe had strong reasons to compete for the award, but Kane's victory is undoubtedly deserved."
The presenter concluded by praising the English striker's achievements.
"Harry Kane is a fantastic player with an impressive career. Thank you for joining us."
The 2026 Ballon d'Or is the first of Kane's career. The Bayern Munich forward enjoyed a remarkable 2025/2026 season, helping the German club win the Bundesliga, German Cup and German Super Cup.
On the international stage, Kane also played a key role in England's campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the national team finished third.
Kane's triumph ended a 45-year wait for Bayern Munich, whose previous Ballon d'Or winner was Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in 1981.
