Former Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso believes his dismissal was unjustified and a serious mistake by the club’s management.
According to Idman.Biz, citing The Athletic, following the Spanish Super Cup final against Barcelona, which ended in a 2–3 defeat, the Spanish specialist was invited to the club’s training base. There, he held a meeting with Real Madrid chief executive officer Jose Angel Sanchez, during which he was informed that the club had decided to terminate their cooperation.
The source reports that Alonso strongly disagreed with the decision, describing it as unfair and misguided. He reportedly linked his dismissal to internal problems within the club, characterizing the current system as a “galacticos power culture”.
Xabi Alonso was appointed head coach of Real Madrid on June 1, 2025. At the time of his dismissal, the club were second in the La Liga standings and sat seventh in the Champions League table.
