Regional weightlifting among children and teenagers born in 2008-2011, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, jointly organized by the Gazakh District Executive Power and the Gazakh-Tovuz Regional Youth and Sports Department within the "Year of Heydar Aliyev" on October 21 championship was held.

The opening ceremony of the championship was attended by Rajab Babashov, the head of the Gazakh District Executive Power, Firdovsi Umudov, the vice-president of the Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation, Aziz Masmaliyev, the head of the Gazakh-Tovuz Regional Youth and Sports Department, veteran athletes, elders and other people. Rajab Babashov, the head of Gazakh District Executive Power, spoke at the ceremony and wished success to the athletes. The head of the executive said that 2023 is a significant year for our people and our state, and said that the Great Leader's sports policy is being successfully continued today by his worthy successors, President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva.
Firdovsi Umudov, vice-president of the Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation, greeted the participants of the competition on behalf of the Federation's president Kamran Nabizade, conveyed his sincere congratulations and wished them success. Expressing his approval to the organizers for holding today's championship, the vice-president said that such competitions play an important role in the development of athletes. As the leadership of the federation, he pointed out that great goals have been set for the development of weightlifting in Kazakhstan and other regions of our republic, and necessary steps will be taken in this direction. Then Aziz Masmaliyev, head of the Gazakh-Tovuz Regional Youth and Sports Department, greeted the athletes and wished them success. He said that Great Leader Heydar Aliyev always cares for Azerbaijan's youth and sports.
Then the race started. Nuray Abilova (40 kg), Samira Rzayeva (45 kg), Bahar Ojagverdiyeva (49 kg), Ravilya Abbasova (55 kg) and Ayten Aliyeva (59 kg) in girls, and Said Mahmudlu (40 kg), Mardan Mardaliyev (44 kg) in boys. ), Musa Mammadtaghiyev (49 kg), Musa Almammadov (55 kg), Latif Aliyev (61 kg), Amin Mammadtaghiyev (67 kg), Nihad Suleymanov (73 kg), Allahverdi Garagozov (81 kg), Muhammadali Mammadzada (89 kg) and Aslan Amiraslanov (96 kg) won a gold medal and climbed to the top of the podium. Prize winners were presented with diplomas and medals by the Gazakh-Tovuz Regional Youth and Sports Department.
After watching the competition, the vice-president of the federation, Firdovsi Umudov, met with Kazakh athletes and coaches, listened to them and gave recommendations. He noted that the federation pays attention to all regions, as well as the Gazakh region, takes all steps to achieve new and greater successes, and this process will be continued, and the development of weightlifting sports will be ensured.
