The main goal of the “All for Swimming” project is to achieve mass participation in sports and promote a healthy lifestyle, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov said.
According to Idman.Biz, the minister made the remarks while speaking to journalists after the opening ceremony of the competition.
Gayibov emphasized the importance of organizing such events.
“The key objective of the competition is to spread sport among a wide audience and encourage a healthy way of life. The ‘All for Swimming’ project is being held for the fourth time. It is important to note that amateur athletes are also taking part in the competition. Swimmers who achieve success in regional pools will compete in the final stage one month later. It is pleasing that for the third time athletes from our brotherly country Turkey are also participating. Judging by the atmosphere at the venue, interest in the competition is very high,” the minister said.
It should be noted that the event is being held nationwide for the fourth time, with a total of 1,551 participants competing this year. Athletes are divided into the following age categories: 9–10, 11–12, 13–14, 15–16, 17–19, 20–24, 25–29, 30–34, 35–39, 40–44, 45–49, 50–54, 55–59, and 60 and over.
The competitions are taking place across 37 swimming pools located in Baku and various regions of the country.
