The sports ambassador for the Baku 2026 stage of the Silk Road Tour Swimming World Cup has been revealed.
As reported by İdman.Biz, Azerbaijani singer and television presenter Azad Shabanov, who has represented the country in international music and television projects, has been selected for the role.
Shabanov finished second in the Yeni Ulduz-7 music competition. He also participated in Azerbaijan's national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2010.
A sports ambassador is a public figure who helps raise awareness of a sporting event or project, promote it among a wider audience and enhance its public profile. The role is usually given to well-known figures from sport, culture or entertainment.
The Baku 2026 stage of the Silk Road Tour Swimming World Cup will take place at the Baku Aquatics Palace from October 1 to 3.
