Emil Gurbanaliyev: "I did not expect so much in Paris"

"Managing a meeting at the Olympics was great. The competitions were exciting, stressful and intense."

Emil Gurbanaliyev, an Azerbaijani international boxing judge, told Idman.biz.

He commented on the election of the representative of justice who best managed the battles at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games. Gurbanaliyev, who was the first in the ranking and was awarded with the certificate of the most spectacular competition of the four years, said that he was selected from among the 40 judges who entered the ring in France: "The referees are constantly being watched. If there was any doubt, they were immediately sent home. Therefore, I worked there so that the name of our country would not be harmed. The main issue was to properly represent the name of Azerbaijan. I defended justice in more than 20 meetings. Each battle was remembered in its own way. In boxing, unlike other sports, each referee looks at the fight from a different angle. I was very tense during the race. I was glad that I participated in the Olympics. Because not everyone is lucky enough to work here."

According to him, he worked in the ring 5 times and as a side judge in others: "I attached importance to fairness in each of my decisions. 5 people who mishandled the fight were sent off after falling into the red zone. I managed the women's 75 kg final. It was very pleasant. I felt that I would be well regarded. But I did not expect so much."
