ANPC official: "We will represent our country in the Paralympics as well as we can"

"Our preparation for the Paris 2024 Summer Paralympic Games continues at a high level."

Idman.biz reports that the head of the sports department of the National Paralympic Committee of Azerbaijan (ANPC) Shahvalad Aliyev said this at the press conference organized at the Azerbaijan Sports Academy regarding the Paris 2024 Summer Paralympic Games.

He said that the athletes are working on their shortcomings by passing certain tests: "Training camps are continuing. Our teams are training in different regions. We will represent our country at the Paralympics as well as we can. 11 out of 19 licensees will participate in such a prestigious competition for the first time. We hope that, along with the experienced ones, they will also succeed."

According to Aliyev, the reason for the lower number of licenses compared to Tokyo 2020 is that many Paralympians have finished their careers: "It is difficult to talk about the exact number of medals in Paris."

The general secretary Toghrul Rahimov said that we will be represented in 7 sports at the Paralympics for the first time: "Our next goal is the Winter Paralympic Games to be held in Milan. We plan to represent our country there in 2026. Children's Paralympic Sports Games were held and 700 people participated. Our main goal is to widely spread Paralympic sports among children."

It was announced that the committee's new website will be launched at the event.

Azerbaijan will be represented by 19 Paralympians at the Paris Paralympics, which will be held from August 28 to September 8.
