The opening ceremony of the Mini-Football Tournament among state institutions dedicated to the memory of the great leader Heydar Aliyev was held.
Idman.biz reports that Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov, Secretary General of AFFA Sarkhan Hajiyev and Vice President of Azerbaijan Minifootball Federation Taleh Nasibov took part in the event organized at the Tennis Academy.
The ceremony started with the presentation of the participating teams. After that, a video showing the sports memories of National Leader Heydar Aliyev was shown and the memory of the martyrs who died for Azerbaijan's territorial integrity was commemorated with a minute of silence.
Opening the event with an introduction, Nasibov said that the competition is becoming traditional: "This tournament was held last year as well. It has already become a tradition. I wish success to each of the participants of the competition."
The general secretary of AFFA said that there will be interesting games from the first day to the end of the tournament dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the great leader Heydar Aliyev. According to him, last year's tournament was held very well. "I congratulate the Minifootball Federation and the Azerbaijani national team for their performance in the World Championship. These speeches of the nationals are a contribution for our future. We believe that these successes will continue."
Youth and Sports Minister Farid Gayibov wished success to the participants and thanked AFFA and Minifootball Federation for organizing the competition. He said that sports in Azerbaijan is experiencing a period of growth and the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev constantly pays attention to the development of sports.
After the official speeches, the inter-institutional Mini-Football Tournament was declared open and the National Anthem was played.
After the ceremony, the game between the State Customs Committee and SOCAR teams started.
It should be noted that 52 state institutions, companies and teams of various organizations will compete in the tournament held with the organizational support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, AFFA and the Azerbaijan Minifootball Federation. The competition, which started today, will continue until May 6, 2024. The games will be held on Saturdays and Sundays.
