AMADA hosts anti-doping training with POLADA experts in Baku – PHOTO

Joint training for members of the anti-doping Disciplinary and Appeal Committees held at the initiative of AMADA and organized by the Ministry of Health.

Idman.biz reports that a joint training session titled “Specific Aspects of Results Management for Disciplinary and Appeal Committee Members” was held for members of the Anti-Doping Disciplinary and Appeal Committees, initiated by the Azerbaijan National Anti-Doping Agency (AMADA) and organized by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The training featured the participation of a delegation led by Michał Rynkowski, Director of the Polish Anti-Doping Agency (POLADA) and Chairman of the Monitoring Group of the Council of Europe Anti-Doping Convention. The training team also included Aleksandra Łysuniak-Strauch, Chairwoman of the Second Instance Disciplinary Panel, and Tomasz Rutkowski, Chairman of the First Instance Disciplinary Panel.

The main objective of the event was to strengthen the professional and practical competencies of committee members in line with the international standards established by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). The training aimed to ensure the correct application of procedural rules in adjudication processes and to foster a fair and transparent approach to Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV) proceedings.

Participants explored key topics including: procedural flow of the results management process; complex scenarios under Articles 2.1 and 2.2 of the World Anti-Doping Code; application of aggravating circumstances and no significant fault provisions; legal rationale and handling of Article 2.4 whereabouts failures; tampering and contamination cases; and effective use of Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) jurisprudence.

In addition, participants were informed about proposed amendments to the World Anti-Doping Code and International Standards expected to be adopted by WADA by the end of this year.

The trainers shared in-depth insights into the Polish anti-doping system, presenting real case studies and best practices. The training was conducted through interactive presentations, live discussions, and case-based analyses, offering an applied and participatory learning experience.

The event concluded with a Q&A and case discussion session, providing participants the opportunity to reinforce their knowledge through practical dialogue and real-life scenarios.
