"Vertical running has its own stars, and the race at the Flame Towers will generate great interest."
This was stated to Idman.biz by Daniel Cecetka, President of the World Vertical Running Association, during his visit to Baku.
He noted that his trip to Azerbaijan had been planned for a long time: "Finally, I had the chance to visit Baku and discuss many exciting projects. It was interesting to meet with Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov and Rufat Hasanov, founder of the Triterra club, and to discuss joint projects. We can officially announce that the Flame Towers will host a vertical running tournament on September 27."
According to the World Vertical Running Association's President, the tournament is expected to attract many sports enthusiasts: "Azerbaijan is a new location with a new race. The opportunity to come here and see Baku and the Flame Towers creates a lot of interest. I believe hundreds of vertical running athletes will take part in the tournament, it will be a new challenge for them."
He added that vertical running has its own fans and stars: "Our calendar includes many events and rankings that go beyond just running in high-rise buildings. We have stars from Japan, Australia, Indonesia, and many other countries. At the same time, we are working to expand the calendar and find new locations. It’s an ongoing process."
Speaking about vertical running in Azerbaijan, Cecetka mentioned the three consecutive years that the Triterra club organized races at the Chinar Plaza business center: "We not only follow major events but also those that, despite their short history, have gained popularity. In this sense, Triterra is a great example of successfully implementing the idea. I believe we will have several joint projects in the future."
The association head also emphasized that he plans to return to Baku soon: "I'm leaving tomorrow, but I’ll definitely come back for the Flame Towers tournament in September. I try to stay active in vertical running, though being the president of the organization comes with additional responsibilities. Every race requires serious preparation. What I’ve seen in Azerbaijan left the best impression. See you again in Baku."
Today, Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov received World Vertical Running Association's President Daniel Cecetka.
