Registration continues for delegations set to compete at the 3rd CIS Games, which will be hosted in Azerbaijan.
As of today, seven countries, including the host nation Azerbaijan, have officially confirmed their participation in the Games, Idman.biz reports.
These countries from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will be represented by 1,659 athletes across 23 sports disciplines, with a total of 2,385 accredited delegates registered so far.
Six countries have confirmed their presence in team sports, including U16 football, 3x3 basketball, and volleyball. In individual disciplines like wrestling, boxing, judo, and taekwondo, over 100 athletes have registered.
It’s noted that during the initial phase, only delegations from CIS member states are being registered. The second phase will open to non-CIS countries, invited through special invitations. In total, nearly 5,500 participants from 23 countries are expected to take part.
The 3rd CIS Games will be held from September 28 to October 8 in seven cities across Azerbaijan: Ganja, Yevlakh, Mingachevir, Gabala, Shaki, Goygol, and Khankendi. The event aims to foster friendship, unity, and sportsmanship among young athletes and is set to become one of the region's most prestigious sporting events.
