The Republican Olympic Sports Lyceum (ROSL), located in the Bakikhanov settlement of Baku, has officially reopened following extensive renovation and reconstruction work.
As reported by İdman.Biz, the opening ceremony was attended by Azerbaijan's Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov, representatives of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation and Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation, as well as prominent athletes.
During the event, Gayibov inspected the renovated facilities and familiarized himself with the improvements made to the institution's infrastructure.
The renovation project included major upgrades to the freestyle wrestling, Greco-Roman wrestling and judo training halls. In addition, the dormitory, dining facility and classrooms were reconstructed to provide improved living, training and educational conditions for young athletes.
Established in 1963, the Republican Olympic Sports Lyceum has been operating in Baku for more than six decades and remains an important institution in Azerbaijan's sports development system.
The lyceum also has a branch in the Gakh district and currently offers training in five sports: freestyle wrestling, Greco-Roman wrestling, boxing, judo and football.
Including its Gakh branch, the institution has the capacity to accommodate 700 students.
The lyceum consists of three main sections dedicated to sports training, accommodation and education. It also operates a training camp in Nabran, where students can participate in specialized training sessions and preparation camps.
Students are provided with three meals a day, ensuring that their nutritional needs are met alongside their academic studies and athletic development.
The reopening of the renovated facilities marks another step toward improving Azerbaijan's sports infrastructure and creating better conditions for the development of future national team athletes.
