On April 3, the next session of UNESCO's Intergovernmental Committee for Physical Education and Sport (CIGEPS) began its work at the headquarters of the organization.

Idman.biz reports that in the opening part of the meeting, the Minister of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan Farid Gayibov spoke as the chairman of the Committee for 2022-2023, congratulated the Minister of Sports of Chile on his election to this position and informed about the activities of the Committee during the last four years.

Stating that Azerbaijan has made special contributions to UNESCO's sports agenda, Minister Gayibov spoke about the success of the MINEPS VII conference held in Baku on June 26-29 last year with the participation of representatives of 110 countries, and also talked about the projects implemented in Azerbaijan within the framework of the Fit for Life Alliance.

Gabriela Ramos, the Deputy General Director for Social and Humanities, the new chairman of the Committee, the Minister of Sports of Chile, Jaime Pizarro, and a number of other member countries, who participated in the meeting, thanked Azerbaijan for the successful chairmanship and the high organization of the MINEPS VII conference.

Within the framework of his visit to Paris, Minister Farid Gayibov also met with Gabriela Ramos, Deputy Director General of UNESCO for Social and Human Sciences. Ambassador of our country to UNESCO Elman Abdullayev also participated in the meeting.
