Vafa Musayeva, the first Azerbaijani woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest, has returned home. She was warmly welcomed by her family and members of the media at Heydar Aliyev International Airport.
Musayeva shared that conquering Everest had been her dream for the past eight years, and she dedicated the last two years to intense preparation. Reaching the summit took her 35 days, Idman.biz reports.
Reflecting on her journey, Musayeva admitted that there were moments of fear, especially near the top, but she overcame them with determination. After successfully reaching the Everest summit, she descended to a camp situated between 7,900 and 8,000 meters.
Remarkably, she didn’t stop there. Just days later, she set her sights on another peak — Lhotse, the world’s fourth-highest mountain at 8,516 meters. In just three days, Musayeva completed her second climb above 8,000 meters.
She emphasized that the unwavering support of her family and loved ones played a key role in her success.
