Vafa Musayeva - The first Azerbaijani woman to conquer Everest

Vafa Musayeva has gone down in the history of Azerbaijani sports.

She became the first female climber from Azerbaijan to climb Mount Everest, Idman.biz reports.

Vafa achieved this feat on May 15. She is the 3rd Azerbaijani climber to conquer the highest peak in the world.

In 2007, Israfil Ashurlı achieved this, and 12 years later, Vadim Vokryachko. True, two more Azerbaijani athletes climbed Everest. But Murad Ashurlı, who was happy about this in 2013, conquered the peak as a citizen of Russia and the United States.

The first Azerbaijani woman to climb Everest was Elmira Aslanova. She did it in 2023 as a citizen of Ukraine.
