Azerbaijan’s Kyokushin team wins two medals at World Cup - PHOTO

Azerbaijan’s national Kyokushin team has claimed two medals at the World Cup held in the Bulgarian cities of Varna and Kamchia.

Azerbaijani athletes achieved this success in the early stages of the tournament, which began on July 6, Idman.biz reports.

Selcan Babayeva (16–17 years old, +65 kg) won a gold medal, while Javid Kazimli (16–17 years old, +75 kg) secured silver.

Azerbaijan is represented at the competition by a total of 19 athletes. Fourteen of them are already competing in the Kyokushin Karate category, while five others will take part in the upcoming SENSHI events in the senior division.

The tournament features national teams from official representatives of the Kyokushin World Union (KWU) across 37 countries. The Azerbaijani delegation is led by the Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Karate Federation and KWU-SENSHI representative Gabil Sayadov.
