The successful performance of Azerbaijani karate athletes at the 3rd CIS Games is the result of state support and systematic preparation.
According to Idman.biz, the Azerbaijan Karate Federation released a statement highlighting this achievement.
It was reported that at the competitions held at the Mingachevir “Kur” Olympic Center, the national team won a total of 16 medals (6 gold, 3 silver, and 7 bronze).
With this result, the Azerbaijan Karate Federation secured a leading position among the federations participating in the CIS Games. Gold medals were won by Turgut Hasanov (84 kg), Irina Zaretska (68 kg), Farid Agayev (75 kg), Madina Sadygova (55 kg), Nuran Rzazade (67 kg), and Roman Heydarov (individual kata). Silver medals went to Asiman Gurbanli (+84 kg), Farid Savadov (60 kg), and Nazrin Piriyeva (55 kg). Bronze medals were awarded to Aysu Aliyeva (61 kg), Farid Shahbazli (84 kg), Rashid Suleymanov (75 kg), Inci Azizova (50 kg), Aslan Dostuyev (67 kg), and in kata, Ramilya Heydarova and Rovshan Aliyev.
The statement emphasized that these achievements are the result of systematic work by the head coaches and federation leadership. The men’s head coach Shahin Atamov, women’s head coach Shahin Khudaverdiyev, kata head coach Vahid Ayvazov, and senior coach Rashad Huseynov ensured the team’s high level of preparation.
Training camps held in Turkiye’s Marmara region and Gusar district prior to the CIS Games strengthened athletes’ physical and technical preparation, laying the groundwork for success on the international stage.
Under the leadership of Azerbaijan Karate Federation President Ulvi Guliyev, with the support of the executive board and the dedicated work of the federation staff, athletes received comprehensive preparation. Federation President’s assistant and head of the press service Vusal Abdullazade stated:
“The results achieved at the CIS Games are a clear demonstration of the professionalism of Azerbaijani karate athletes, the coaches’ hard work, the federation leadership’s continuous efforts, and the state’s support for sports. The attention of the country’s leadership and the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports open wide opportunities for the development of karate. The Azerbaijan Karate Federation intends to continue these successes in upcoming international competitions.”
The statement also noted that these achievements open new horizons for the development and future prospects of karate in Azerbaijan.
