World Judo Championships: Hidayat Heydarov and two other Azerbaijani judokas set to compete

The World Judo Championships in Budapest, Hungary, continue with more Azerbaijani athletes stepping onto the tatami.

Three members of Team Azerbaijan will begin their campaigns on the third day of the competition, Idmаn.biz reports.

In the men’s 73 kg category, Hidayat Heydarov will face Otari Kvantidze, a Portuguese representative of Georgian origin. Rashid Mammadaliyev, competing in the same weight class, will take on the winner of the match between Kazbek Nagushev (UAE) and Giovanni Esposito (Italy).

In the women’s 57 kg division, Fidan Alizada is set to go up against Marica Perišić of Serbia.

Azerbaijan is represented by 13 judokas across 10 weight categories at the championships. During the first two days of the tournament, Ahmed Yusifov (60 kg) and Ruslan Pashayev (66 kg) in the men’s events, along with Leyla Aliyeva, Konul Aliyeva (both 48 kg), and Gultaj Mammadaliyeva (52 kg) in the women’s competitions, were eliminated early and left the tournament without medals.
