The World Judo Championship has kicked off today in Budapest, the capital of Hungary.
Three Azerbaijani judokas took to the tatami on the first day of the championship. Unfortunately, all of them ended their participation without winning a medal, Idman.biz reports.

Men
60 kg
Ahmad Yusifov faced Japan’s Ryuju Nagayama in the round of 1/16. The Azerbaijani athlete suffered a defeat in his opening bout.
Women
48 kg
Leyla Aliyeva started her campaign in the 1/32 final, where she secured a win over Turkmenistan’s Kurbanay Kurbanova. In the next round, she faced Laura Martinez from Spain but was defeated, ending her run.
Konul Aliyeva also exited early after losing to Maria Laborde (USA) in the 1/32 final.
The Azerbaijani national team has sent 13 judokas (9 men and 4 women) across 10 weight categories to the World Championship. The team will also compete in the mixed team event.
