Teen Azerbaijani pilot Davin Jafarov has received offers from the “McLaren GT4” and “Formula-4” teams.
Idman.Biz reports that this comes after the driver delivered a strong performance at the season-closing race on the international track in Bombarral, Portugal.
Although Jafarov started the EK125 category karting race with a BMB engine in the lead, he did not finish the semifinal due to engine failure. Nevertheless, he managed to finish 2nd in the final.
At the award ceremony following the race, the teenage athlete was awarded the Fastest Driver Cup in the EK125 category in Portugal.
It is worth noting that earlier, Jafarov set a record at the World Cup in Italy with 24 overtakes, breaking the previous record of 12, and recorded the fastest lap several times. His successful international performance caught the attention of the “McLaren GT4” team management in Portugal. He has been invited to test drives at the famous “Autódromo Fernanda Pires da Silva” track in Estoril.
Jafarov’s high potential and prospects for future success at the world level have also attracted the interest of the “Renault” team, whose representatives have invited the 16-year-old to Formula-4 tests.
Previously, the pilot had received an offer from the “Formula-4 Aston Martin Junior Development” team. With new opportunities ahead, the young Azerbaijani racer must make a decision by the end of December.
