“Qarabag” sets a new record in Azerbaijani football.
Idman.biz, citing Telegraph, reports that the "Qarabag" became the first Azerbaijani team to win five consecutive matches in European competitions.
The Agdam-based club achieved this by defeating Hungary’s Ferencvaros 3:1 in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League play-off stage.
The team, led by Gurban Gurbanov, had previously overcome Ireland’s Shelbourne 3:0 and 1:0, as well as North Macedonia’s Shkendija 1:0 and 5:1 in earlier rounds.
With this achievement, “Qarabag” surpassed Neftchi’s previous record of four consecutive wins in the 2019/2020 season.
The return leg between “Qarabag” and “Ferencvaros” will take place on August 27 at the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium.
