“It seemed like Araz-Nakhchivan wasn’t ready for the match against Omonia.”
Football expert Azar Bagirov made this statement to AZERTAC while discussing the first-leg matches of Araz-Nakhchivan and Sabah in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League, Idman.biz reports.
He commented on the Nakhchivan side’s defeat as follows: “If you remember, Aris played defensively in their match in Baku. They wanted to leave everything for the return leg. However, Omonia displayed a completely different game. The Nicosia club focused entirely on scoring. As a result, they put four goals past Araz-Nakhchivan and secured a huge advantage ahead of the second match.”
The expert said that Sabah played for a draw in their away match against Levski: “Valdas Dambrauskas’ team didn’t seem interested in scoring. Levski, on the other hand, played for the win on their home ground. They managed to do so with a goal in the final seconds. But nothing is over yet. The return legs are still to come.”
Araz-Nakhchivan lost 0–4, and Sabah lost 0–1. The return matches will be played on August 14.
