Barish Shimshek, former chairman of the Referees Committee of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA), has been appointed to a new position within the Turkish Football Federation (TFF).
As reported by İdman.Biz, Shimshek has been included in the newly formed Central Referees Committee (MHK) of the TFF.
The Turkish official is well known in Azerbaijani football circles, having served as chairman of AFFA's Referees Committee from 2022 to 2024. During that period, he oversaw the country's refereeing system and was responsible for its administration and development.
As part of the restructuring within the Turkish Football Federation, renowned English referee Anthony Taylor has been appointed chairman of the Central Referees Committee. He previously served as director of elite refereeing.
The committee's other members are Alan Snoddy and Igor Radojčić.
The appointments form part of changes to the management of refereeing in Turkish football, with the new committee responsible for overseeing refereeing matters and supporting the development of officiating standards.
With his appointment, Shimshek will continue his career in football refereeing administration in Türkiye after previously leading the refereeing structure in Azerbaijan.
