The sports director of Sabah, Igor Ponomaryov, has evaluated the potential opponents of the team in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League.
He highlighted in an interview with Report that Ukraine’s Shakhtar is more experienced compared to the other potential rivals, Idman.biz reports.
"There is no easy opponent in European competitions. Each of the potential opponents has a lot of experience. Of course, Shakhtar is more experienced and well-known compared to the other possible teams. However, regardless of who the opponent is, the team must step onto the field with only one goal — to win. This is football, and there must be ambition," the club official said.
It should be noted that the capital city representative’s potential opponents in the first qualifying round are Shakhtar (Donetsk, Ukraine), Sheriff (Moldova), Sele (Slovenia), and Spartak (Trnava, Slovakia).
The draw for the round will take place today in Nyon, Switzerland, at 17:00 Baku time. Sabah will play their first match on July 10 and the return leg on July 17 in the UEFA Europa League's first qualifying round.
