Forest Green Rovers turn dressing room into jungle to reduce players' stress

English football club Forest Green Rovers, who compete in the fifth tier of the country's football league system, have transformed their dressing room into a green oasis resembling a jungle as part of Stress Awareness Week.

As reported by İdman.Biz, citing the club's official website, the unusual initiative was developed in collaboration with sports psychologists and the Netherlands-based Plants & Flowers Foundation Holland.

The project aims to help footballers manage pre-match anxiety, reduce stress levels and improve their concentration before stepping onto the pitch.

According to specialists involved in the initiative, pressure before matches can trigger physical reactions, including rapid breathing, muscle tension and difficulty thinking clearly.

They believe that surrounding players with living plants can help calm the nervous system, restore mental focus and improve decision-making during matches.

The club's experiment was followed by a positive result on the pitch. On October 28, Forest Green Rovers secured a 2-0 victory over Eastleigh.

However, there is no evidence that the dressing room transformation directly contributed to the result.

Forest Green Rovers are already known for their environmentally friendly approach to football, including their commitment to sustainability and plant-based food.
