Qarabag striker Musa Gurbanli shares his thoughts following the 2–0 victory over Araz-Nakhchivan and outlines the team’s ambitions for the season for Futbolxeber.az.
– You secured a 2–0 win over Araz-Nakhchivan in Round 34 of the Azerbaijan Premier League. How would you comment on the result?
– We really wanted to win. Araz-Nakhchivan is a tough opponent, and our matches against them are always challenging. That’s why we’re happy with this victory. Every win gives us more motivation.
– The scoreline could have been even higher, especially considering the chances missed in the first half. What do you attribute this to?
– That’s just football. If you have five chances, you should convert at least two. If you score all five, you’d win 5–0 every time. The key is to keep creating chances. If we’re creating a lot but not converting, it just means we need to be more precise.
– In the second half, Araz-Nakhchivan seemed to control more of the possession. Was your team tired, or was it the comfort of the 2–0 lead?
– It was probably a bit of both. The 2–0 scoreline gave us a sense of comfort, and fatigue may have also played a role. Still, we tried to stay disciplined until the final whistle.
– Next up is a match against Kapaz. Will the drive to win remain strong?
– Even though we’ve already secured the league title, we approach every match aiming to win. Hopefully, we’ll deliver a good performance again and come out on top.
– What are your expectations for the cup final?
– We’re preparing seriously. Our goal is to finish the season with two trophies. We’ll give everything on the pitch to make it happen.
– Are you struggling to stay focused on league matches with the cup final approaching?
– Not at all. In fact, we treat these matches as preparation for the final. We'll lose our physical rhythm if we don’t perform well in the league. So we’re taking each match seriously to stay ready.
