The Argentine star said that he does not prioritize personal stats:
“Nowadays, people pay a lot of attention to statistics, but I don’t really like it that much. I don’t feel like I have to score or assist just to break records or surpass someone. I live and enjoy football. I like being an important figure on the pitch, but I’ve never played for the sake of statistics.”
The 38-year-old Messi has played 33 MLS matches for Inter Miami, scoring 35 goals and providing 21 assists.
