Nottingham Forest have parted ways with head coach Ange Postecoglou just 40 days after his appointment, following a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea.
Idman.Biz reports that the club announced the decision on social media, stating: “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect. The Club will make no further comment at this time.”
Postecoglou was appointed on 9 September after a tense split between former manager Nuno Espirito Santo and Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis. Chosen as Marinakis’s top target, Postecoglou leaves the club just one point and one place above the relegation zone, having failed to win any of his eight matches in charge.
His 40-day tenure marks the shortest in Premier League history, surpassing Les Reed’s previous record of 41 days at Charlton in 2006. Postecoglou also oversaw just five league games, the second-fewest in Premier League history, one more than Frank de Boer’s stint at Crystal Palace in 2017.
Forest now face the challenge of appointing a new manager as they fight to avoid relegation this season.
