Robert Lewandowski was on the scoresheet once again for Chicago Fire, finding the net in the Leagues Cup clash against Santos Laguna. As reported by İdman.Biz, the Polish forward continues his strong start in the United States.
Lewandowski struck in the second-round match of the competition as Chicago Fire secured a 3-1 home victory over the Mexican side. Santos Laguna took the lead in the 20th minute through Ezequiel Bullaude, but the hosts turned things around after the break. Philip Zinckernagel levelled the score in the 72nd minute, before Robin Lod put Chicago ahead in the 90th.
Deep into stoppage time, Lewandowski sealed the win. The 37-year-old reacted quickest to a rebound after the opposition goalkeeper’s save, tapping home to make it 3-1.
It marked Lewandowski’s third goal for Chicago Fire, having previously scored a brace in an MLS match against Charlotte.
Chicago Fire have now won both of their opening Leagues Cup fixtures, following a 2-0 victory over Necaxa in the first round.
