Azerbaijan's junior saber players finished their performance at the Riposta Cup tournament held in Bucharest, the capital of Romania.
Idman.biz reports that Nahid Mammadli achieved the best performance in the boys' individual competition.
He was 11th among more than 150 participants. Timur Husnaddinov, Abbas Huseynov and Rasul Aliyev managed to take place in the first "50" in the general ranking.
Among the 140 participants in the private competition of female saber fencers, two of our fencers made it to the top 20. Valentina Zeynalova was 16th, and Zuleikha Sultanli was 19th.
In the girls' team competition, our team consisting of Valentina Zeynalova, Leyla Ahmadova, Farah Abasova and Zuleikha Sultanli defeated Bulgaria with a score of 45:18 in their first match. In the next match, Azerbaijan’s representative, who won against the Romanian team with a score of 45:32, lost to the Great Britain team with a score of 28:45 in the match to advance to the final.
The team of Azerbaijan consisting of Rasul Aliyev, Abbas Huseynov, Nahid Mammadli and Timur Husnaddinov was fifth in the ranking.
Our fencers, who won their first match against the Bulgarian team with a score of 45:39, lost to Romania with a score of 44:45 in the match to advance to the semi-finals.
