The first meeting of the Executive Committee of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation (ACF) in 2024 was held.
According to the information provided to Idman.biz by the ACF, the president of the organization Mahir Mammadov, who spoke at the meeting, said that the state always pays attention and care to chess and chess players.
As a result of this, it was emphasized that Azerbaijan's representative is among the 8 strongest chess players in the world at the Candidates Tournament held in Canada these days. After Shakhriyar Mamedyarov and Teimour Radjabov, Nijat Abasov is said to be the third Azerbaijani chess player to participate in the Candidates Tournament.
The members of the Executive Committee were informed about the training of the young chess player Khagan Ahmad at the FIDE Chess Academy, as well as the training of world-renowned experts Vladimir Chuchelov and Boris Gelfand with Azerbaijani chess players.
The meeting discussed the certification of coaches teaching chess in order to check their level of professionalism, and the composition of the Azerbaijani chess teams that will participate in the World Chess Olympiad. Opinions were exchanged on the necessity of rebranding the logo of the Federation in order to adapt it to the requirements of modern times.
Farid Abbasov, head coach of the youth team, gave detailed information about the activities of the Chess Academy established under the Azerbaijan Chess Federation. The training program for coaches and chess players working in the academy has been announced.
