Seven Azerbaijani chess players will participate in the Grand Swiss tournament, which marks the start of the championship cycle.
FIDE has announced the final list of participants who passed the qualification stage, Idman.biz,
The tournament will be held from September 3 to 16 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. As previously planned, not four but seven Azerbaijani players will compete. In the open tournament, Mahammad Muradli will join Shahriyar Mamedyarov, Rauf Mamedov, and Eltaj Safarli.
In the women’s tournament, Govhar Beydullayeva, Ulviyya Fataliyeva, and Khanım Balajayeva will compete.
The top two players in both the open and women’s tournaments will qualify for the Candidates Tournament.
