The semi-final round of the traditional Great Silk Way international tournament among male boxers has ended in Baku. In the competition where 121 athletes from 11 countries participated, 4 more athletes of the Azerbaijan national team qualified for the finals.

Hasan Malikov (48 kg) challenged Shodiyorjon Melikuziyev (Uzbekistan) in the semi-finals. The fight ended with the victory of the national member. He defeated his opponent 3:2 (28:29, 29:28, 29:28, 29:28, 27:30). Malikov will face Kazakh Temirtas Zhussupov in the final.

In 57 kg, Shamil Asgarov faced Buzurgmekhr Iksanov (Tajikistan) in the semi-finals. The match ended in favor of the Azerbaijani boxer - 5:0 (30:27, 30:26, 30:27, 30:27, 30:27). Askerov will face Khudoynazar Fayzov (Uzbekistan) for the gold medal.

Azrak Babirov (60 kg) also qualified for the finals. In the semi-finals, he won over Uzbekistan's Sayat Ilyasov - 3:2 (29:28, 29:28, 27:30, 28:29, 29:28). Babirov will fight with Talgat Syrymbetov (Kazakhstan) for the title of winner.

Tayfur Aliyev (63.5 kg) repeated the success of his teammates. On the way to the final, our boxer defeated the Russian Ilya Popov with a score of 4:1 (27:30, 29:28, 29:28, 30:27, 29:28). Aliyev will try his strength against Abdulloh Madaminov (Uzbekistan) in the decisive match.

With this, the number of our boxers who will enter the ring in the finals on March 28 has increased to 6. Earlier, Murad Allahverdiyev (86 kg) and Alfonso Dominguez (92 kg) also won this right. They will fight Khasmagomed Javakhanov (Russia) and Sagyndyk Togambay (Kazakhstan), respectively.

Following Sarkhan Budagov (80 kg), Muhammad Abdullayev (+92 kg), Malik Hasanov (63.5 kg), Ilgar Salahov (67 kg), Kamran Shahsuvarli and Mirsharif Kazimzade (both 75 kg) won bronze medals. They lost in the semi-finals.

The final fights of the competition held at the Boxing Center will start at 14:00.

It should be noted that the women's national team of Azerbaijan finished the tournament with 2 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals.
