The goal of the “Neftchi” basketball club in the FIBA Europe Cup is to advance from the group stage.
According to Idman.biz, this was stated by “Neftchi” captain Amil Hamzayev in an interview with Report news agency.
The Azerbaijani national team member spoke about his team’s objectives for this year: “There have been significant changes in the squad. The foreign players are gradually joining the camp. We also face a tough challenge in the Azerbaijani Championship. After that, we will compete in international matches. In the EuroCup, we will first face the Polish team ‘Trefl.’ Our goal is to advance from the group stage in the FIBA Europe Cup.”
Hamzayev also touched on extending his contract with the team yesterday: “It’s a pleasure to continue with Neftchi. The previous year’s contract included a clause that allowed a one-year extension if the team qualified for European competitions. Our goals are ambitious. We want to represent Neftchi with distinction both in the Europe Cup and in the national championship.”
Along with Amil Hamzayev, “Neftchi” has also added Akbar Mammadov, Fikrat Alakbarov, and Aga Agayev to their roster.
