The winner of the Azerbaijan Basketball League (ABL) will receive an additional AZN 1.4 million in prize money.
As reported by İdman.Biz, the Azerbaijan Basketball Federation (ABF) announced the new financial model for the 2026/27 season.
All clubs starting the new ABL campaign will receive an unconditional payment of AZN 300,000.
The team finishing second in the championship will be awarded an additional AZN 700,000.
From the 2026/27 season, the ABF has changed its approach to the management and development of the Azerbaijan Basketball League. The new funding model is designed to improve the quality of domestic basketball, increase competition between clubs and encourage higher attendances.
Although the league’s overall budget remains at a similar level to previous years, the distribution of funds will now be based more heavily on sporting performance and the fulfilment of specific criteria rather than guaranteed payments.
Clubs that attract at least 300 spectators to a match will receive AZN 3,000 for each such game. A team meeting this requirement in all 21 matches during the season could earn an additional AZN 63,000.
Each victory will be worth AZN 10,000, meaning clubs could earn up to AZN 210,000 in win bonuses over the course of the season.
At the end of the campaign, each of the four clubs that qualify for the playoff semifinals will receive an additional AZN 150,000.
