The badminton player of Azerbaijan, Ade Resky Dwicahyo won a gold medal in the individual category of male badminton players in the "Algeria International 2023" Tournament held in Algeria.
Idman.biz informs that the athlete, who started the main stage of the tournament that gives license points for the Paris-2024 Summer Olympic Games, defeated his opponents from Algeria, Poland and France and advanced to the semi-finals.
Ade defeated the Italian badminton player Christopher Vittoriani in the semi-finals with a score of 2:0 (21:18, 21:11). The member of the national team, who did not give even a set to his opponents in the matches held until the final, continued his winning streak in the decisive match. The badminton player won the gold medal of the "Algeria International 2023" Tournament by playing better than his opponent in the other two sets (21:13, 21:18), although he lost the first set with the score of 15:21 in the match against Sacha Leveque from France. In addition, he added 2,500 rating points to his account for the Summer Olympic Games to be held in Paris.
The other representative of Azerbaijan, Keisha Fatimah Zahra, also finished the "Algeria International 2023" Tournament with a medal. The representative, who managed to advance to the semi-final stage, won the bronze medal of the competition by collecting 1750 rating points in the individual competition.
Although Keisha Fatimah Zahra defeated the badminton players representing Algeria, France and Italy in the matches to advance to the strongest "four", she lost with the score of 1:2 to the winner of the tournament in the women's badminton individual competition, the Frenchwoman Rosy Oktavia, in a 3-set match.
