Sabah FC have equalled a long-standing defensive record in the history of the Azerbaijan Premier League.
As reported by İdman.Biz, citing the Professional Football League (PFL), the Baku-based club have conceded only one goal in their first eight matches of the current Misli Premier League season.
With an average of just 0.125 goals conceded per game, Sabah have matched one of the most impressive defensive records in Azerbaijani championship history.
Since the national championship was established in 1992, this is only the fifth time a team have conceded no more than one goal in their opening eight league matches.
It is also the first such achievement in the past ten seasons. The last club to accomplish the feat were Gabala in the 2016/17 campaign.
The record was originally established by Neftchi in the 2001/02 season before being equalled by AZAL six years later and Khazar Lankaran nine years later.
Sabah have now joined this exclusive group, underlining their impressive defensive performances at the start of the season.
