Azerbaijani wrestlers representing the country at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, are continuing intensive training sessions.
According to Idman.Biz, the women’s national team is preparing at the Goygol Olympic Sports Complex following the conclusion of the U-23 World Championship, their last competition of the year.
Other national squads are completing their final preparations at a training camp organized by the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation.
Teams from abroad are also participating in the camp. Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestlers are training alongside colleagues from Bulgaria and Algeria. Bulgaria’s squad includes the latest Olympic champion, Semyon Novikov (87 kg).
In freestyle wrestling, several teams—including Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Kazakhstan, and Algeria—are training together for the Games. Among them is Ahmed Tajudinov, an Olympic, World, and two-time Asian champion representing Bahrain.
The training camp concludes on November 14, and the national teams will depart for Riyadh the following day. Wrestling competitions at the Islamic Solidarity Games will take place from November 18 to 21, with first-class referee Bashir Isazade overseeing the matches.
