Azerbaijan’s Greco-Roman wrestlers, who finished third in the team standings at the U-23 World Championships held in Novi Sad, Serbia, have returned home.

According to Idman.Biz, citing Report, the team was welcomed at Heydar Aliyev International Airport by journalists and members of the public.

The Azerbaijani squad earned two gold and one bronze medal, finishing third overall with 93 points — the best result in the nation’s history in terms of medal quality. Azerbaijan trailed only Iran (143 points) and Ukraine (96 points).

Under the guidance of head coach Aleksandr Tarakanov, senior coach Rövşən Bayramov, and coaches Hasan Aliyev and Kamran Mammadov, the team saw Elmir Aliyev (55 kg) and Ziya Babashov (63 kg) crowned world champions, while Ruslan Nurullayev (72 kg) secured a bronze medal.
