Maresca praises 17-year-old Samba after brace against Norwich

Manchester City head coach Enzo Maresca has praised 17-year-old forward Floyd Samba following his impressive performance in the third round of the English League Cup against Norwich City.

As reported by İdman.Biz, Samba scored twice as Manchester City claimed a convincing 5-0 victory.

“He was good not only because of the two goals — his overall performance was at a high level. He hasn’t played much as a No. 9, but we tried him there in the last two or three games. He is a very good finisher. It was a good game for him,” Maresca told Sky Sports.

The Italian coach revealed that Samba had little previous experience playing as a centre-forward.

“In the last three or four days, when I decided to use him as a No. 9, I asked him about it and he said he had never played there before.

“Of course, he is not a classic No. 9, but he is very good. He is young, energetic and knows how to finish chances,” Maresca added.

Samba’s brace helped City comfortably book their place in the next round of the competition.
